Entering May, Here’s What Each Sign Should Focus On

Stepping away from yet another difficult, confusing month in quarantine amidst the catastrophic global pandemic, it is likely that many of us are feeling slightly discouraged and low-energy.
High school and college students are struggling with being away from friends and being forced to accept cancellations of important events like prom and graduation. Most adults are transitioning to online work or even losing their means of income. Some of us may feel tested by our families.
May is a time for acceptance and re-imagination. Things may not be perfect, whether it is with school, work, or relationships, but it is particularly important for everyone to remember that they are not alone. We are all in this together, despite how difficult it may be.
Below, I offer some advice for each sign entering this month, which is going to present the same challenges we’ve been fighting in March and April (and perhaps introduce some new ones) but also allow for chances to focus on healing and perhaps even pave the way for some positive energy.

Aries —
Aries, it may be the time for you to use some of that optimism that I know is still in there (maybe just buried deep, deep down underneath layers of terrible world news). Try to be patient with others in school or work (or even your family) because you may have lost some of your enthusiasm and heart that people love so much about you. Don’t take frustrations out on the people around you. Find an outlet, like writing down the things you are thankful for.
Taurus —
Taurus, these are trying times for you since you likely don’t accept change very well. You may feel that you have a constant headache and don’t want to do anything. You don’t feel impassioned by this new way of working, learning, or living. Use your love of hands-on activities to start a new hobby like drawing. Watch a romantic movie and embrace your sexuality, especially if you’re living with a partner.
Gemini —
Gemini, this quarantine may be going better for you than others, since you are more adaptable than most. You may find yourself checking in on friends often and enjoying time you now have to read or try new things. However, strike a balance between checking in on friends and allowing them to check in on you. You may be adaptable, but you also dislike loneliness and tedious routine — try to change things up every so often. Order in from a new place (and support local businesses!) or have a dress-up video call dinner with friends. It may help you feel a bit brighter.
Cancer —
Cancer, you’re lucky that you enjoy at-home activities and time with family. However, try to get out of your head and truly enjoy these things that you formerly liked instead of being pessimistic about the world. Allow yourself to be creative. It may be a good time to practice your skills.
Leo —
Leo, this may be a rough time for you without friends and being forced to stay in the house. Though you crave in-person interaction, take advantage of available technology and call your friends often. Though you don’t like time with family as much as friends, try to treat your family as your friends nowadays. Push through issues and try to keep your head if you feel tested by familial relationships: it will make the month a lot easier if you stay on good terms with your quarantine buddies.
Virgo —
Virgo, you are hardworking and practical which could make work and school both easier and harder. Make sure to find the right balance between work and checking in on your mental health — don’t work too hard and give yourself time to rest, or else you may exhaust yourself. Take breaks and keep your home clean. If you strike a balance between work and play, quarantine could be quite productive for you.
Libra —
Libra, don’t pity your situation too much. Make a list of the things you’re grateful for and use this time alone to immerse yourself in calming practices like meditation, reading, or prayer if applicable. Try to get outside if possible and definitely call your friends.
Scorpio —
Scorpio, don’t focus too much on politics and world news. Give yourself a break and do
something creative. I promise you won’t slip into political ignorance if you decide to stay off of Twitter and Instagram for the day. You’re a good friend, but friendship goes both ways: if you need to vent, call a friend. Don’t be secretive about your emotions because it will catch up to you.
Sagittarius — Sagittarius, this is probably a difficult time for you. Being constrained is hard and you may feel lost now that you no longer have the freedom to come and go from your home as you please. Watch a comedy program and let yourself laugh again. If you’re missing travel or past experiences, start a scrapbook, make a video edit, or admire photos of your recent adventures.
Capricorn — Capricorn, you may find yourself consumed by deadlines and trying to make the best of work by getting a lot done. Spend time with family and listen to some music to feel better. Your responsible nature will come in handy when it comes to getting work done, but it may also be time to step back and admit you need to take some time for yourself.
Aquarius —
Aquarius, this time may be hard now that you’re away from friends and not having adventures anymore. You may feel saddened by events you planned that were canceled or postponed. This situation may feel dull, but it’s a great time to further yourself intellectually and embrace your philosophical side. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but perhaps explore reading or poetry. Even if you don’t like it, you could find that you learn something.
Pieces —
Pieces, you may be having a good time with your art and escapism tactics, but remember to check yourself periodically and call a friend, read the news, and GET WORK DONE. Since you’re disconnected from reality somewhat, you may lose touch of the tasks you need to complete. Make sure to get work done. You can always return to your daydreaming at the end of the day.
Lastly, every sign should remember that they aren’t alone. Everyone is in the same boat.
However you respond to the situation, make sure you are supporting yourself and others(especially if that means putting aside your desires and staying indoors for the safety of others).
Take this time to heal and discover something new about yourself. Accept this new norm (at least for now). It will all be okay.
