AmeriKKKa

by Xavier Yeldell

I pledge allegiance

To the scorched flag,

Of the Divided States of America

And to the corrupted Republic

For which it so despairingly stands

One broken nation under no one

Very much divisible

With no liberty or justice for all

This country’s philosophies are contorted, deformed.

They wear hypocrisy like designer jeans

And spread hate like COVID-19.

Intelligence threatens the ignorant,

They care little for the lives around them.

I’m a walking target to the trigger-happy pigs

Who race for their next scapegoat,

And crush innocence away from nurtured, peaceful souls.

The media misleads us,

They compete to control to most gullible with their bias and inaccuracies.

I share no empathy for the land that I stand in,

It was brutally taken over by evil long ago.

I express no patriotism for the country that benefits

The rich for swimming in the tears of the unfortunate.

I was at a disadvantage since birth.

I shouldn’t have to live in fear

Or anticipate being assaulted

Just for living, breathing.

Injustice reigns across the nation,

And as it continues to fester,

My antipathy escalates to astronomical levels.

Revolting, rebelling, acting;

The unheard are screaming,

It’s time to listen.
