With today’s political climate, many teenagers are wanting to be politically involved, but how are you able to be involved politically without casting a ballot? There are actually many ways to be actively involved, I am 16 years old and have been involved in politics since before I was a teenager. Here are some ways you can be politically involved if you’re under 18.
Political Canvassing: Political canvassing can be done door to door or by the phone. Earlier in 2020, I was involved in Bernie Sanders’ campaign by political canvassing. Calling voters to persuade them to vote for a select member or party can help! Both are effective ways to reach out to voters.
Sign Petitions: Signing petitions that align with your political beliefs is an exceptional way to use your voice. There are many different websites that you can use to call to action, such as Change.org and https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/
Use social media to call to action: If you’re reading this you’re most likely active on social media, so why not use your platform to show your views? Posting on your instagram story isn’t tough to do, so you might as well post issues you’re passionate about.
Stay informed: Staying up to date with current events and issues is very important. Keep up to date with things to be better informed, staying educated is one of the most important things you can do!
